Overview
The AI Assistant lets you update an agent by describing what you want in plain language. It appears beside the visual editor, so you can chat with the assistant while keeping your agent’s steps visible. Use it to add a step, adjust an answer, update a branch, or refine an existing call path without opening every setting manually. The assistant only reports a correction as applied after Tala has checked and saved it. If the change cannot be saved safely, the chat tells you that nothing was changed and explains what to do next.
Availability and access
The AI Assistant is available inside the agent editor for eligible paid accounts. Trial accounts can still see the panel, but sending messages stays locked until billing access is enabled. If you only need to inspect past changes, you can still open the panel and review the conversation history even when message sending is unavailable.
How to use
- Open any agent in the visual editor
- Use the AI Assistant panel on the right side
- Describe the change you want in natural language
- Wait while Tala checks and saves the proposed correction
- Review the explanation and the updated steps
- Continue refining the agent if needed
What the assistant can change
The assistant can help you update the parts of the agent you would normally edit yourself, including:- conversation steps and branches
- answers and instructions
- labels and transition conditions
- call transfer paths
- SMS configuration guidance from the Configurations tab
- mobile push notification guidance through the Tala iOS and Android app
- existing call paths that need to be reorganized
Review and restore changes
Each assistant reply stays in the chat history. When a reply includes an agent update, you can restore that saved state directly from the conversation. This makes it easy to:- compare recent changes
- roll back to a previous version
- try a new direction without losing earlier work
Limits and expected behavior
- The AI Assistant has a limit of 50 messages per month for each organization.
- Simple questions or confirmations usually return quickly because they do not need to update the agent.
- Larger changes can take longer because Tala checks the complete agent before saving.
- If another edit is saved while the assistant is preparing a correction, it stops without overwriting that newer work and asks you to reload before trying again.
- Starting a new conversation resets the active AI chat context, but your previous messages remain visible in the history.
