# Hostaway

> Find the property a caller is talking about during voice calls

![Hostaway logo](https://mintcdn.com/tala-73c4b5d5/TBkJTS-Dc0_ZAcm2/images/integrations/hostaway.svg?fit=max\&auto=format\&n=TBkJTS-Dc0_ZAcm2\&q=85\&s=b8b64cabe278096fb450ab40b7377c98)

## Overview

The Hostaway integration lets your voice agents find, in your Hostaway account,
the property a caller is talking about: a guest asking for the address, or for
the check-in and check-out times. Perfect for short-term rental managers and
concierge services using Hostaway as their property management system.

The integration is **read-only**: Tala never creates or changes anything in
Hostaway (listings, reservations, calendars or messages).

> [!NOTE]
>
> This integration requires a Hostaway account with access to the Hostaway
> public API. You need its **Account ID** and an **API key**.

## What You Can Do

| Feature | Description |
| - | - |
| **Property lookup** | Find a property by its name, listing code, internal name or address |
| **Address** | The agent gives the public address of the property |
| **Arrival and departure** | The agent gives the check-in and check-out times |
| **Safe by design** | Access codes and Wi-Fi passwords are never shared with callers |

## Setup

**1. Get your credentials**

In your Hostaway account, get the Account ID and an API key from the API
access settings. If in doubt, ask Hostaway support.

**2. Connect Hostaway**

Go to **Integrations**, click **Create Integration**, choose **Hostaway**,
then enter the Account ID and the API key.

**3. Test the connection**

Click **Test connection**. Tala checks your credentials with Hostaway
before saving them.

**4. Choose the agents**

In the same window, under **Agents that use Hostaway**, check the agents
that should look up properties, then click **Save**. No agent is checked
by default.

> [!TIP]
>
> To add or remove an agent later, click **Edit** next to Hostaway in
> **Integrations** and change the checked agents. A duplicated agent starts
> unchecked.

## Example Conversation

> [accordion] Guest asking for check-in time
>
> **Caller:** Hello, I'm arriving tomorrow at Villa des Orangers. What time can I check in?
>
> **Agent:** Let me check... For Villa des Orangers, check-in is from 4 pm to 9 pm, and check-out is at 11 am.
>
> **Caller:** And what is the exact address?
>
> **Agent:** The address is 12 chemin des Oliviers, 06160 Antibes.

> [accordion] Several properties match
>
> **Caller:** I'm staying at the apartment on the seafront.
>
> **Agent:** I found several properties that could match. Could you give me the name or the code of your property?

## Managing the Connection

* **Edit**: in **Integrations**, click **Edit** next to Hostaway to change the
Account ID, replace the API key or change the agents that use Hostaway. The
saved API key is never displayed; leave the field empty to keep it.
* **Delete**: click the trash icon next to Hostaway. The stored credentials are
removed and your agents stop looking up properties.

## Security

| Setting | Value |
| - | - |
| Access | Read-only |
| Credentials | Encrypted at rest, never shown again after saving |
| Never shared with callers | Access codes, key instructions, Wi-Fi passwords, guest and reservation data |

## Troubleshooting

> [accordion] The connection test fails
>
> * Check the Account ID: it only contains digits
> * Check that the API key is complete, without extra spaces
> * Make sure the API key is still active in your Hostaway account

> [accordion] An agent is missing from the list
>
> * Only active agents of the current organization are listed
> * Close and reopen the Hostaway window after creating the agent

> [accordion] The agent does not find the property
>
> * Ask the caller for the property name or its code as written in Hostaway
> * Check that the property is active in Hostaway
